Shining the light of Jesus from this hill

Jesus is one person in two complete and distinct natures—both true God and true man.

Human authors wrote the Bible under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Instead of viewing authors as passive "pens of God," the church teaches that God's message was expressed through the writers' own words, personalities, and historical contexts.

Scripture serves as the primary and most authoritative guide for Christian doctrine, worship, and moral action.

The church does not require a fundamentalist or word-for-word literalist interpretation. Instead, readers must understand text through its specific historical, cultural, and literary genres (such as poetry, history, letters, or prophecy).

Passages are studied actively—using cross-references, historical commentaries, and the Book of Confessions—and are weighed against the central Christian command to love God and neighbor

Every individual Christian has the right, duty, and ability to read, study, and question the Bible with the intellect and reason God provided.

As a Presbyterian (PCUSA) congregation, we belong to what’s known as the Reformed Tradition which holds that we are "formed and always being reformed by the Word of God." To that end, we are guided in our life of faith by The Book of Confessions, a compilation of creeds and historical statements about what we as a church believe.
